Topic – The Use of Technology to Promote Freedom of Expression in Cambodia
Summary – Technology/ICT Tools (Facebook, website, mobile app…) become the most effective tools for disseminating information around the world now. Realizing the advantages of the tools, the leading human rights organization Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), has been utilizing them for its cause to promote and protect democracy and respect for human rights – primarily civil and political rights – in Cambodia for many years. And a Human Rights Portal (sithi.org) was born since then as platform for sharing and documenting all the information related to human rights in Cambodia. With our long experiences, we will share with you the tools, how to use the tools more effectively and how to make the most out of the tools to get the information you want.
The topic will also touch around the Sithi Hub: a Physical Space to promote the use of ICT tools for Freedom of Expression in Cambodia.
About the Speaker – Lach Vannak is a project coordinator at Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), and an active social work volunteer who shares a strong passion for development and social work. Graduated in Media and Communication in 2010, Vannak started his career in Communications work since then. With his specialization, Vannak’s goal is to help promote the use of ICT tools for development work in Cambodia.
