Mesa is currently working as the Communications Specialist for WaterSHED, a local organization working on hygiene, sanitation and entrepreneurship development for rural Cambodians. Prior to his current job, he was the Community Manager for the BBC Media Action working on a multi-media campaign on youth civic engagement called Loy9.
In 2010, Mesa was awarded a one-year scholarship through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) to study Public Relations and Communication at the Illinois State University. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Media Management from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2012. Upon his graduation, he took a short break from work for half a year as he was selected to be a youth ambassador representing Cambodia to the 39th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP).
Mesa has also been actively involved in community services in two youth organizations –SSEAYP International Cambodia (SIC) and Fulbright and Undergraduate Alumni Association of Cambodia. He loves doing projects with young energetic youths and work together to trigger various social issues happening in Cambodia, and he is constantly seeking opportunities to travel, collecting stories and taking photographs/videos.
Rachana was from Kratie province. She passed scholarship at Passerelles Numeriques in 2010 in the major of System and Network Administration. Currently, she is a third year student at University of Puthisastra and she is QA Junior Tester Mobile Application at Golden Gekko Phnom Penh. She also join Barcamp events nearly most of the times.
Sovichet TEP is a freshman of RUPP – Computer Science major. He is now an admin at Khmer Wikipedia and also is a blogger sovichetlife since 2010. He involved in IT since he was in high school and has done a few public project like: publishing free-usage Khmer unicode fonts, blogging about computer at http://it4ug.net/. He has attended BarCamp since 2010 in Phnom Penh. He like self-study and volunteer work to get more experience with people in the society. In the future, he want to be a programmer and do more project for plubic benefits.
Heng Sokly is a third year at Institute of Specialized Economics and Finance. Currently, She is a Secretary of Student Committee of Cambodia IT Association (Cita) and she had helped organize many social event such as CiTA Event and other event . It is the first time that she became a volunteer for BarCamp Phnom Penh 2013.
SENG Moonpanha comes from Sihanouk province and studies at Institute of Technology of Cambodia. He has been volunteering as the Media Executive Committee in SSEAYP International Cambodia (SIC), an alumni association of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program.
, Never before have I been so fascinating about any event, but Barcamp Phnom Penh history is so intriguing that I have to step up and join this community. My name is Trouy Lymeng, a freshman from RULE where I am majoring in International Relation. Being a freshman does not limit myself from reaching the outside world cos I constantly keep searching for new things, new places and new people. In this sense, I realized that Barcamp Phnom Penh will surely provides me the chance to fulfill my dream as well as having a positive impact for my future. Being a volunteer for this wonderful event, I will do my best to serve and learn from everyone. .
As passionate and industrious as Meth Ratana Vyanuth, she craves her passion of success to deliver the best of herself to the community she involves in, and this year she has drawn herself to Barcamp Phnom Penh volunteer team. Despite her hectic academic schedule of dual degrees, Vyanuth never forget to fulfill her role as a good citizen. This IFL (B.Ed) and CamED (Accountancy) student has been devoting herself in many charitable activities such as raising money for orphanage houses and Kantha Bopha hospital. “Personally, I would love to expose myself with BarCamp event so as to experience exciting moment of youthful life!” Vyanuth revealed, her energized pair of eyes confirm that she really means it, here and now. “I might not be ‘Miss know it all’, but at least all I know are useful enough for being a great member of my generation. I might not be a perfectionist but whatever I do is well considered as good job.” she determined to let the Barcamp Organizers know
Chorvorn was a student from a rural area which is Stoung District, Kompong Thum Province. He studied at PUC majoring in Business Admin. He’s been working as a volunteer at different places. He’s used to be a liaison officer to coordinate at 37th World Heritage Committee at Council of Minister, a volunteer at Humanity Habitat, Study in Australia Exhibition by IDP, facilitator at ANUSSA, and now he’s working as a volunteer at PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA STUDENT SENATE (PASS) for IT manager position, and Khmer Youth Goodwill Mission. Sooner, he will apply for UGRAD program and Erasmus scholarship. Also, He will try his best to facilitate and promote BarCam Phnom Penh running smoothly.
Phalra Nita, from American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP). Talking about the past, She was selected to be a class monitor since She was at grade 6 until She graduated from high school, which means She believe that She contain enough confidential and leadership skill. Thus, she always looking forward and enthusiastic in any kind of voluntary work, so this is the first time to have a chance to involve in BarCamp Phnom Penh.
Ngin Socheata, one of volunteer BarCamp events in Phnom Penh 2013. She got scholarship 100% in Nation University of Management. She also studying Bachelor of English at Western University.Personal attitudes,” I am a great personality and I always enjoy new challenges and opportunities”. In the future, she want to be a manager in my own company and one more thing is a lecturer at other university.
Ngov Sokteang is 20 years Old. Currently she is junior at Zaman University, majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS). It has been two years since my study has begun. Meanwhile, She have only been focusing on my studies in an attempt to get good grades. However, this year, she decided that this should be the time for her to put herself in a position where she can start experiencing new things, meeting new people, and sharing all the knowledge that she possess. This is the first time being a volunteer at BarCamp and her really excited and enthusiastic to help BarCamp using the skills that she have learnt. She really hoping that this volunteering is going to be her stepping stone to have a successful career in the future, and she especially want to take part in gaining Cambodian understanding of how important technology nowadays.
Tith Ann Chankrisna, from Royal University of Law and Economic. He love volunteerism and have been volunteer for many events and some organization. He has joined Barcamp Phnom Penh since 2011.
Kolneath is an 18 years old junior student of Institute of Foreign Languages and Royal University of Law and Economics, majoring in International Studies and Public Administration, respectively. Though her interest lies in history and politics, she is also very passionate in volunteering and doing community service. After finishing high school, Kolneath joined an empowering youth organization known as AIESEC IFL, where she recently completed her role as the Vice President of Global Community Development Program. During her term in AIESEC, she has initiated and executed various projects in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh that were related to Children Education, Cultural Exchange, and Environmental Protection. Kolneath has attended BarCamp for two years in a row, and is looking forward excitedly to her volunteering experience in BarCamp Phnom Penh 2013.
Dear all barcampers and IT geeks, my name is Long Borith, a sophomore from IFL and RULE. I have a personal interest in social activities and community services. Despite my inexperience in the world of ITC, I deeply believe that Barcamp Phnom Penh will be the golden ticket to this lively and ever-growing network. For me, IT is not just a massive social gravity which brings people together but it can make human interaction even more real than we can imagine. As a person who loves to meet new people from various places, I am determined to create an impact for both the society and event.
LORN Thary was from Kampong Cham province. She is studying bachelor degree at University of Cambodia. She is a secretary of University of Cambodia Students Senate (UCSS). She was a volunteer of Fund Raising Committee of the 2nd Youth Camp of Transparency International Cambodia (TIC). She has involved a lot with social work especially, she really like doing work as a team. It is the first for her is a volunteer BarCamp Phnom Penh.
So Bunlong was from Banteay Meanchey province. He is a IT Student at Norton University and also studing bachelor Englis for business at Cambodia Mekong University. Future, he want to be a web developer and Mobile developer. he also have own blog longwilliam. He use to join Barcamp at KompongCham.
Iv rachna was from Siem Reap province. In 2010, she got scholarship 100% for 4 years at National University of Management in major Accounting and Cambodian Mekong University in major English for business. She was awarded support aid for 3 years constantly from the Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship. It is the first time that she became a volunteer for BarCamp Phnom Penh 2013. In the future, she wants to have her own business.
Chhun pansovanroth was born in Takeo province. He studying Management Information System at SETEC Institute and year two of Finance and Banking at PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA University of Cambodia. He like networking and Design the most of lesson. He like to work as volunteer and sharing all the knowledge and meeting new people. When He grow up he wish to be businessman.
Rosat was form Kompong Cham Province. He has leaved the town since 2010 that was the time for starting Freshmen College. Currently, He just completed junior at Norton University in majoring Management. In addition, He is a volunteer in College of Social Science of NU. When He was Sophomore, He also used to be a volunteer at Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) as a reader and looking for the names of death people under Khmer Rouge Regime only two months of the project ”Book of Memory”. Since then He quitted it. Until now, He come up with the new idea and seeking for social activities in order to strengthen knowledge. He is knowledgeable in technologies a lot since He have liked Barcamp Facebook Page and participated in Barcamp workshop. One important thing that He want to tell everyone is the time to open eyes and see the world. Even though He is in the social of science studied, He have strong desire and commitment to get and share whatever He have learned in the social activities. He know that it is a bit late to join social activities; however, it is better to get nothing, He would be better to launch now. Indeed, He is very proud to be a volunteer on October 19-20, 2013 of Belcamp’s event.
Tiv Keanita I am currently a 3rd year student of the Bachelor of Law in French program at Royal University of Law and Economics. I started volunteering since I was in the first year of university. My first volunteering work was being a freelance tutor at an NGO called A New Day Cambodia. I later joined AIESEC Cambodia based at IFL. I was involved in quite a few AIESEC projects, namely the Environmental project and the Social Entrepreneur project. Apart from AIESEC, I was also involved in a few other volunteering works.
